Here’s another list of 10 amazing quotes from an apostle! Elder David A. Bednar was ordained and set apart as an apostle on October 7th, 2004, and has served diligently as an amazing teacher and compassionate leader.  To help you prepare to hear him speak in General Conference from October 6-7, we’ve compiled quotes from Elder Bednar’s last 10 Conference talks with links to the full versions on lds.org. Enjoy!

1: “Often as we teach and testify about the law of tithing, we emphasize the immediate, dramatic, and readily recognizable temporal blessings that we receive. And surely such blessings do occur. Yet some of the diverse blessings we obtain as we are obedient to this commandment are significant but subtle. Such blessings can be discerned only if we are both spiritually attentive and observant (see 1 Corinthians 2:14).” (“The Windows of Heaven, October 2013). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/10/the-windows-of-heaven?lang=eng

2: “We are not and never need be alone. We can press forward in our daily lives with heavenly help. Through the Savior’s Atonement we can receive capacity and “strength beyond [our] own” (“Lord, I Would Follow Thee,” Hymns, no. 220). As the Lord declared, “Therefore, continue your journey and let your hearts rejoice; for behold, and lo, I am with you even unto the end” (D&C 100:12).” (“Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease,” April 2014). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/bear-up-their-burdens-with-ease?lang=eng

3: “The Church of Jesus Christ always has been and always will be a missionary church.” (“Come and See,” October 2014). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/10/come-and-see?lang=eng

4: “Trust and confidence in Christ and a ready reliance on His merits, mercy, and grace lead to hope, through His Atonement, in the Resurrection and eternal life (see Moroni 7:41). Such faith and hope invite into our lives the sweet peace of conscience for which we all yearn.” (“Therefore They Hushed Their Fears,” April 2015). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/therefore-they-hushed-their-fears?lang=eng

5: “At one point I asked Elder Hales, ‘You have been a successful husband, father, athlete, pilot, business executive, and Church leader. What lessons have you learned as you have grown older and been constrained by decreased physical capacity?’

Elder Hales paused for a moment and responded, ‘When you cannot do what you have always done, then you only do what matters most.'” (“Chosen to Bear Testimony of My Name,” October 2015). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/10/chosen-to-bear-testimony-of-my-name?lang=eng

6: “By the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we can always retain a remission of our sins.” (“Always Retain a Remission of Your Sins,” April 2016). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/04/always-retain-a-remission-of-your-sins?lang=eng

7: “Believing [in Christ] is trusting that His bounteous blessings are available and applicable in our individual lives and families. Believing Him with our whole soul comes as we press forward along the covenant pathway, surrender our will to His, and submit to His priorities and timing for us. Believing Him—accepting as true His power and promises—invites perspective, peace, and joy into our lives.” (“If Ye Had Known Me,” October 2016). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/10/if-ye-had-known-me?lang=eng

8: “Joyfully, I witness that our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, live. To be engaged in Their service is one of the greatest blessings we can ever receive. I so testify in the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.”(“Called to the Work,” April 2017). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/10/if-ye-had-known-me?lang=eng

9: “God promises His children that if they follow the precepts of His plan and the example of His Beloved Son, keep the commandments, and endure in faith to the end, then by virtue of the Savior’s Redemption, they “shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.” Eternal life is the ultimate exceeding great and precious promise.” (“Exceeding Great and Precious Promises,” October 2017). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/10/exceeding-great-and-precious-promises?lang=eng

10: “The Savior declared, ‘Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.’ Meekness is an essential aspect of the divine nature and can be received and developed in our lives because of and through the Savior’s Atonement.

I testify that Jesus Christ is our resurrected and living Redeemer. And I promise that He will guide, protect, and strengthen us as we walk in the meekness of His Spirit. I declare my sure witness of these truths and promises in the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.” (“Meek and Lowly of Heart,” April 2018). https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2018/04/meek-and-lowly-of-heart?lang=eng
