We found this beautiful story on a Facebook post from the Welcome to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, India” Facebook page. It’s of a new convert with such wonderful humility and hope that we had to share with you. Here is what he said:

Friends in picture you will see a young buddhist monk feeding birds. The picture was taken in Nepal in mid 2011. But here I am now – a man fully changed not only the dress, its a total change of inside and out, of mind and soul and attitudes, behaviours and life style after I came to know about the true church The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and accepted the truth and became a member. My main identity is I am devoted Mormon. That is the most important title I do have and wish to have for this life and beyond. Now I am a disciple, walking everyday with Jesus Christ which leads to peace and purpose. I humble myself before our Heavenly Father and before the world that they will know the difference which comes from the teachings of the true Church.

Friends and fellow Mormons, In water baptism I was given a spiritual rebirth which originated by my faith in Jesus Christ, I am Born Again.

Fellow Brothers and sisters, I am not a good writer, I can only say I am a fully changed person. I have witnessed love and fellowships of yours, meet wonderful people. I am thankful to everyone of you for your prayers and kindness.

Would you please continue to pray for me as I am planing for marriage.

What an amazing testimony from a new convert. It reminds us of the quote by Elder Marion G. Romney about true conversion. Here it is:

“Converted means to turn from one belief or course of action to another. Conversion is a spiritual and moral change. Converted implies not merely mental acceptance of Jesus and his teachings but also a motivating faith in him and his gospel. A faith which works a transformation, an actual change in one’s understanding of life’s meaning and in his allegiance to God in interest, in thought, and in conduct. In one who is really wholly converted, desire for things contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ has actually died. And substituted therefore is a love of God, with a fixed and controlling determination to keep his commandments.”
